The Budget Ledger publishes educational guides and tools about budgeting, saving, debt payoff, and everyday money decisions. This policy explains how we work and what readers should expect from us.

Editorial responsibility

Mohsin Shahzad, founder and editor, is responsible for the final version of every guide published on this site. Author bylines link to a profile that identifies the person accountable for the work.

Research and sources

We prefer primary, authoritative sources for factual financial claims, including government agencies, regulators, and the original publisher of a dataset. Examples and sample budgets are clearly presented as illustrations unless they come from a cited source. Where a calculation depends on assumptions, we aim to show the inputs so readers can adjust the result to their own situation.

How digital tools are used

Digital tools may assist with outlining, organizing research, checking calculations, editing, and formatting. They do not replace editorial responsibility. The publisher remains accountable for checking the final article, its claims, links, and calculations before publication.

Updates and dates

A published date should reflect when a page first became available on this site. An updated date is added only after a material change, such as revising figures, assumptions, recommendations, or a substantial part of the guide. Minor formatting changes do not make an article newly published.

Independence and advertising

Advertisers do not choose our topics or approve our conclusions. Advertising and any future commercial relationships are kept separate from editorial decisions. Material commercial relationships will be disclosed where they are relevant.

Corrections

If you spot an error, include the page URL, the statement in question, and a reliable supporting source through our contact page. We review correction reports and update material errors rather than silently preserving information we know is wrong.
